Lucka is one of the newest faces aboard Pilot Letná. Although she has only been part of the crew for three months, she has already mastered not only working behind the bar but also the role of Operations Manager. Anyone who knows her will tell you she never runs out of energy.
She found Pilot through an Instagram ad. One click, a few interviews, and today she can hardly imagine starting her day anywhere other than aboard Pilot.
What she enjoys most about the job is its variety. Every day brings something new: great coffee, new situations, new people, and opportunities to keep improving both herself and the café. That’s exactly why hospitality continues to inspire her.
Her morning usually starts with a cappuccino made with lactose-free milk, which often replaces breakfast. Once the day gets going, she switches to black coffee, most often filter coffee or cold brew.
What her workday looks like depends on whether she’s behind the bar or managing operations. One thing is always the same, though. She’s the first to arrive. She gets the espresso machine ready, chooses the beans for the batch brew, stocks the display with cakes and snacks, and makes sure everything is set for the first guests. Then comes her favorite morning ritual, ten quiet minutes to herself with her first cup of coffee. Only after that do the doors open and the café truly comes to life. Throughout the day, she’s usually out on the floor with guests, and before heading home to her family in the evening, she makes sure the orders for the next day are taken care of.
What makes her happiest during a shift? A perfectly prepared coffee and genuine positive feedback from guests. Those small moments remind her that everything she does has a purpose.
When asked about the funniest moment she’s experienced at Pilot, she laughs. She remembers the day Petra called to say they had chosen another candidate. A few minutes later, the phone rang again. It had all been a misunderstanding. They had actually meant to hire Lucka. Thankfully, everything worked out, and today she’s an important part of the crew.
When she’s not at work, she finds peace somewhere completely different, up high. She enjoys rock climbing, loves the mountains, traveling, and snowboarding, and treasures spending time with her family.
If she ever left the café world, she already knows exactly what she’d do. She dreams of opening her own small café with a guesthouse somewhere in the mountains, a place where people would come to slow down, just as naturally as they come to Pilot for a coffee today.
Her superpower? As she jokes: “My superpower is messing everything up… and somehow always finding a way out. ”
If Lucka could choose the soundtrack for arriving at work, it would be “Sientelo” by Camo & Krooked. It’s the track that gets her into the rhythm of the day before she even starts pulling the first espresso.
The motto that sums her up best?
